Women's Plus Size Clothing Options - Choosing Clothes Can Be Difficult

For those who have plus sizes, choosing clothes is difficult. It will take them the whole day just to gather around the sizes that'll fit. Aside from dresses, another thing that matters for women who love shopping is the option of purchasing a plus size women's clothing such as lingerie. Here are some advanced tips to give you a head's up.

Since large women also want clothing that is worn by thin women, it is not a surprise for them to demand the same everything. Voluptuous women can look sexy, buy nice-fitting clothes and feel totally comfortable with their lingerie only if she knows what her body is composed of. Sometimes, it's easier to find bigger size lingerie because manufacturers add larger sizes to their clothing line. But still, finding something that'll perfectly fit will be impossible.

To make things clearer, plus sizes aren't only meant for fat women. They are also meant for women who are small and are characterized with large busts, or women who are amazingly tall. It goes to prove that no matter how you try to argue that a 2x nightgown is impossible to fit a 5'2" woman who has a weight of 224 pounds. Remember, finding a perfect plus size fit isn't only for large women but also coordinates with the height and how proportionally concerned it is to the curves of every part of the body.

Regarding the purchase of one-piece outfits, it always turns out that there is this certain part of the garment that'll fit fine yet another part of the garment that wouldn't completely fit at all. Sometimes, it would end up fine but will result to being larger than expected. For women who are hard-to-fit, the appropriate advice is to purchase lingerie separately. With this, you are able to purchase night shorts, panties or bottom pants that'll fit your size than make a separate purchase for camisole or shirt in a different size.

If you're not too particular with how clothing will entice your tastes, looking for clothing that is adjustable will help you find something even better. Lingerie and some brasseries that are made of bra-like top are first class choices. Because women not only can adjust the size around the bust but the straps too.

Nightgowns that have an adjustable strap are good selection for women who are quite short. Just bringing the lace inches up can raise the straps; spaghetti straps that are being tied are also good choices for adjustable lingerie. Short nighties are perfectly meant for women who just can't seem to find floor-length nightgowns that won't drag dirt from the floor. Another choice is a camisole then just buy separate pieces of sleeping shorts, pajama bottom or panties.

Shorts and pajama bottoms that possess drawstring along the waist will work well to make extra room for the hips. Short women can have the option to purchase pajama bottoms that are elastic down to the ankle to help the garment from falling on the floor.

Extra room in the hips or bust area require fabrics that are stretchable, which allows extra inches in particular areas of the body. When purchasing teddies, stretch fabrics are also available. Tall, short and heavy women will fit perfectly with stretch teddies.

Looking for plus size women's clothing particularly lingerie are easy if you know how to adjust from the conventional choosing that you are used to.

The Big, the Buxom, and the Beautiful - A Celebration of the Plus Size Figure

These days, we're indoctrinated into thinking that thin is beautiful, and that waifs like Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham have the perfect figure.

Yet, history shows that it's actually big girls that men find most attractive. In Medieval times, Renaissance artists celebrated the fuller figure as an object of beauty, particularly if it had an ample tummy or a big bottom; and during WW2, American bomber crews painted beautiful (plus sized) "blonde bombshells" on their aeroplanes for good luck.

Perhaps the greatest celebration of the plus size woman lies in the the great Hollywood era, when busty actresses, such as Jayne Mansfield, were snapped up by studios, more for their buxom features than their acting abilities. Film studios knew then what most men still believe now, that the "hour glass figure", of large breasts and big hips, is the ultimate feminine figure.

Decades after her untimely death, buxom beauty Marylyn Monroe, a definite plus size by today's standards, can still hold her own even against today's Playboy pinups. And who can forget the late, and gloriously plus sized, Diana Dors, still oozing sex appeal at age 49, in Adam Ant's "Prince Charming" video.

So, what are we missing? What is it that makes these plus size women attractive?

The answer is confidence.

Rather than seeing themselves as inferior, these women looked on themselves as positively superior, and regarded their size as an asset, not a hindrance. And why should they not? Perhaps the late great Freddy Mercury was right, maybe "fat bottomed girls" really do make the rocking world go round:

"I've been singing with my band Across the water, across the land, I seen ev'ry blue eyed floozy on the way, hey But their beauty and their style Wear kind of smooth after a while. Take me to them lardy ladies every time!"

British television viewers certainly seem to agree with this. Comedy actress Dawn French is still considered one of Britain's sexiest celebrities, and in 2006, plus size TV presenter, Fearn Britton was voted one of the TV's most desirable women!

So, let's stop worrying about those emaciated, liposuctioned skeletons we see in the glossy magazines. Men are not nearly as fascinated by them as we might think. Rather, we should make the best of what we have, not what we don't have.

If a woman has confidence, big really can be beautiful, but a lack of confidence will kill her sex appeal a lot sooner than any big bum. It's inner beauty that counts, not physical size.

The golden rule is: if you feel attractive, you'll be attractive.

Besides, look at it this way: a woman with big hips and a big bust is already half way to that celebrated "hour glass" figure. Any half decent corset will pull in the rest.

Choosing Plus Size Lingerie

Choosing clothes, especially lingerie for a physically well endowed person is perhaps not that easy. In earlier times women did not have much choice, they had to follow a punishing regimen to lose excess weight if they fancied lingerie that they fancied. Times have changed though. It is an industry which caters to every shape and size, be it underclothing or outer wear.

At the click of the mouse one can even find the discount plus size lingerie of any design or make. One need no longer have hour glass figures to fit into seductive lingerie. They are now designed even for the not so thin super model figures. The secret is to wear clothes in which one is comfortable so that one can carry it off with aplomb instead of worrying about the extra pounds we carry so naturally on our own body. Consumerism has propagated these false myths about 'skinny' being beautiful. In reality the skinny types form only a minority of the women population.

In any case where is the torturous need to fit into these tights which are so uncomfortable anyway? Perspectives have changed and contrary to what the fashion gurus dictate, voluptuous is beautiful. There is a great deal of variety to choose from. There are many big women who need to wear large sized clothes because their body is structured that way. There is simply no sense in feeling apologetic about wearing large sized clothes just because fashion propagates these self-perpetuating myths about beauty being skinny! A woman's body is made differently and there is no sense in longing to look like a skinny boy! All the underclothes are designed in such a way as to guarantee both style and comfort. There is no need to wear a punishingly tight fitting piece of lingerie just to prove a point!

Every woman dares to be different and beautiful and it is not only the privilege of the skinny few to send their partners into a tizzy! Discount plus size lingerie promises to help women with a voluptuous figure to look seductive and naturally herself! There is no longer any need to worry about extra flab on the body.

Lingerie can be chosen to suit the occasion and the costume that one is wearing. Costumes can help to add that extra aura for the special evening and make it memorable for both you and your partner.

There are also body stockings and come with different colours and types to go with any of the costumes one chooses. An ordinary evening can be transformed into a stunning one! One thing is very evident however, big is attractive too!

Accessories That Set Off Your Plus Size Gown

A lovely evening gown or wedding dress can be made even more stunning with the right accessories. In fact, on OK dress and be made beautiful with the right jewelry or shoes or other piece. It's not about hiding your features or dress. You don't want to go overboard! Here are just a few simple, but sophisticated accessories that can really set off plus size gowns.

Earrings a a basic and popular (some say necessary) touch for your outfit or dress. Many times, it's the only thing you need with an evening gown. The simpler the dress, the bolder you can go with earrings. Same thing for your hair - if you go with an elaborate design, keep the earring very simple. If going bold, think chandelier earrings, shoulder dusters, or other earrings that have a bold but simple design. If you wear your hair shoulder-length or shorter or you sweep your long hair in an updo, drop earrings will show you off well. If going simple, it is hard to go wrong with a simple gold, silver, or diamond earrings.

A simple strand of pearls is gorgeous, classic and timeless. In particular, it will enhance a strapless or off-the-shoulder dress. With necklaces, a simple design of gold, silver, or diamond can be alluring.

Bracelets are not for everyone, but if you like a little flash on your wrist, add one or two for a simple touch. These look best with a sleeveless dress and remember wear it only on one wrist for a more elegant look. And nothing noisy.

Don't forget your most important accessory - your shoes. It is crucial that your gown is complemented by an appropriate pair of shoes to complete your elegant look. As always simple is best. You shoes do not have to match completely as long as the color is complementary. And no need to go for straps, glitter or even super height if your gown will largely be covering the shoe.

Too many accessories can be too much of a good thing. Remember that less can really be more. The idea is to show off your plus size gown, not overwhelm it.

Nine Easy Ways to Lose Weight, Live Healthier and Put Fitness Into Your Everyday Life

1. Take the time to enjoy the taste of the food you eat.

Many people seem to inhale their food instead of smell, taste, chew and enjoy it. When you take just a few moments to enjoy your food, you may find out that you need less of it to satisfy you.

2. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're satisfied, not stuffed or when the food is gone!
If we all did this, no one would be overweight.

3. Eat a little less and move a little more.

Losing weight is like depositing to and withdrawing from a bank. Take more out (exercise) than you put in (eat) and soon you'll have no reserves (fat!).

4. Believe that achieving your ideal body is an easy, step-by-step process.

We live in a "nano-second world and a drive-thru culture." Many of us have lost the joy found in the process of achieving a worthwhile goal. Today, choose to enjoy the process of your weight loss. Rediscover the fun and pride of accomplishment.

5. Commit 100% to one healthy behavior.

When you commit 100% to anything, it makes that the easiest thing in the world to do. Committing 99% or less makes it the most difficult thing--because you always have an "out". Pick something that is not too difficult to do consistently--then do it!

6. Eat healthy food when you're hungry.

Starving is not a healthy way to lose weight and keep it off. Recent research shows that eating fresh, lighter foods is a good way to lose weight. This means eating foods that contain a lot of water: melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, grapes, oranges and radishes. Any veggies that you can eat raw, eat them raw.

7. Join the "dirty plate club."

The "clean plate club" is responsible for much of the obesity in this country. Leaving food on your plate allows YOU to decide when to stop eating. It's better to throw some food away than die of obesity related diseases.

8.. Stretch more.

Our bodies LOVE to stretch. Take some time and just luxuriate in a good stretch. Your body will be very happy!

9. Throw out unhealthy leftovers.

You may have food that is tempting you. Just toss it. End of temptation!

Brief History of Italian Fashion

Italy and Fashion have a very unique and special relationship, and when you consider such names as Dolce&Gabbana, Versace and Armani, to name but a few, it's not difficult to see why. But if we look back into the history of Italian Fashion, (e.g. see also the article on Nina Ricci) we start to understand what gave Italy such a status in the Fashion World.

Count Giorgini started the 'Italian Fashion' craze in 1951, when he organised a fashion show to be presented to an International audience in Florence. He then continued to present other fashion shows at his palace, presenting new collections modelled by nobilty against a backdrop of fine arts and scenery. Nobilty would also model new collections at museums or exhibitions next to famous pieces of fine art. This all contributed to elevating the status of Italian fashion, and implanting in everyone's minds that Italian fashion gives you status, is very rich in quality, and almost 'fairytale' like.

In the 1970s and 1980s Milan made its mark as being the Fashion Capital of Italy, and the phrase Made in Italy became universally recognised as meaning 'high quality', and 'high fashion'. Today there are various fashion trade fairs in Milan, and it is considered by many to be the Fashion Capital of The World.

Fabulously Ethnic, Fabindia Banjara Hills

What you see - One thing that you see at Fabindia, Hyderabad is the fact that it is popular both among foreigners visiting India and Indians looking west. That's probably because of the great ethnic wear in trendy designs that you see at the store. In fact, ethnic wear was never so "cool" until Fabindia made us realize this fact. No wonder we see hordes of people here trying to choose the right piece of clothing that would help them flaunt their ethnic inclination with style.

Now this spacious store at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad (right place for a store like this!!!) sports a serene ambiance what with even the lilting music adding to the great shopping experience in Hyderabad. The goods are neatly placed with labels on the panels naming the product and the size. So locating a product is quite easy here. And if it isn't then the knowledgeable sales staff here does help you out.

What you get - Now this store in hyderabad is popular not just for its amazing collection of kurtis, kurtas, dupattas and stoles but also home décor products, body care products, jooties and organic eatables. By the way, one of the best things about the clothes over here is that they come in extra small, small, medium, large and extra large sizes. So no alterations required for what you buy from here.

Talking about the product range (which is quite huge!), Fabindia, Hyderabad has something for everyone starting from the just-born to the grannies. Long, medium and small kurtas in cotton, Kalamkari and silk; skirts, dresses and lehenga cholis for kids up to eight years old; formal shirts and jackets; stoles, dupattas, sarees in cotton, Mangalgiri, Kalamkari, Orissa silk and Jaipur silk (Rs.. 2,500 - 3,500)... the collection is simply awesome.

Would-be mothers can also find something for them here. For men they have the kurtas and the well-designed shirts. Apart from the clothes, they also have reams and reams of towels, curtains and pretty bed covers in pastel shades. These are available at affordable prices.

Our verdict - While we would like to be magnanimous with compliments for this Hyderabad store, we also came across one irksome fact. We were told that the price tag on the apparel may differ from the one fed into the system sometimes. In that case, the price that shows up on the computer screen will be the final. Now that's a little absurd. Nonetheless, it's a great place to shop for all your ethnic needs. And if at all you would want to exchange, you can do that within a week of purchase time. But make sure you keep the bill as well as the tag on the clothing intact.

Bandhej, For Ethnic Colors - Bangalore Women's Clothing

What you see - A very stylish frosted glass door sets the tone for what's inside as you enter Bandhej, a store that stocks clothes for men and women. Located on Indiranagar's 100 Feet Road, it's easily approachable and worth a visit if you love interesting colors and textures. Started in Ahmedabad by National Institute of Design graduate Archana Shah in 1980, Bandhej today also incorporates western styles in its range of designs, making the collection a trendy urban wear one with a very Indian essence. Their Bangalore store is neatly divided by frosted glass into different sections, making shopping here an easy job!

What you get - The first thing we spot on entering the store are a range of stunning jackets, short kurtas and shirts for women in silk, in a range of Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000 plus. Some are delicately embroidered, some have tie and dye work, some have a generous splash of mukaish (embellishment with fine, flattened metal wire) work on the bodice and some are embellished with pin-tucks. This is the western wear section for women and also has short tops in cotton (Rs. 800 and above), gorgeous A-line skirts (We loved the ones with floral appliqué all over), comfortable drawstring pants and capris and very trendy silk pants. You will also get sequined knitted tops in different styles here, starting from Rs. 800 onwards.

The men wear mainly comprises kurtas and shirts. The kurtas are available in different styles, in cotton and silk. While the cotton kurtas for men are around Rs. 800 and above, the silk ones start around Rs. 1,900 and are ideal wear for festive occasions or family events. Coming back to the more varied women's wear, the next section is dedicated to Indian clothes, ie, salwar kameez and sarees.

There's a whiff of Gujarat in Bandhej's trademark embroidery on the kurtas, available in colors like lemon yellow, light green, all time favorite white and black and in bright jewel tones like red, green, yellow etc. If you like tie and dye work, then there are salwar kameez sets in beautiful contrasts with plain kurtas and tie and dye salwars and dupattas. We also loved the collection of whites and blacks here with appliqué work, self prints and varied textures. These are paired with salwars, churidars or straight pants and priced around Rs. 2,000 and above. You can also pick up intricately embroidered stoles apart from block printed or woven dupattas to complement your look.

Bandhej also stocks beautiful sarees, from patolas to benarasis. We saw some absolutely gorgeous silk bandhini sarees with zari borders priced around Rs. 11,000. They also have a limited collection of stylish cholis in brocade, lycra mesh and other fabrics that can be altered to your measurement. The store also stocks woven mojris (traditional flat shoes) and silk bags. Bandhej has worked with weavers and rural craftspeople for decades and the difference shows in the designs.

Our verdict - Stores like Bandhej usually have their own fan following. If you love traditional Indian designs like block prints, tie and dye, appliqué work and gorgeous colors like russets, reds, royal blues, deep greens and summery lilacs and whites, visit Bandhej. The prices may be on the higher side but with their well cut outfits and detailed craftwork, you will buy something that will last quite a while. Parking space is available in the nearby lanes.

Fashion Rules Delhi University Students

Thousands of youngsters enter and exit the prestigious corridors of Delhi University every year. And every year there are hundreds of things that are 'in' and hundreds others that are 'out' in the fashion circuits of the city. The sudden taste of freedom that is at once thrilling and intimidating, the gradually mounting sense of responsibility and the unstoppable spirit to carve out a niche for oneself are there in every aspect of life. No matter even if it is fashion!

Bidding adieus to the monochromatic and monotonous life of school uniforms, youngsters revel in the new-founded freedom to dress as they please. Short kurtas (or popularly called 'kurtis'), broad belts, stretchable jeans, cool goggles and long hair rule any college campus in Delhi University of the day. Myriad colours and hues make their own statement with respect to its wearer and of course with respect to the old adage that goes - 'Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'!

Here's an overview of things that have been 'in' this year. This year has seen a come back of the Seventies retro trends. Big goggles, slacks paired with long tops, frilly accessories, hair-bands, chunky jewellery and flat shoes have all arrived on the scene again when it comes to the female fashion circuit. In the male world, long hippie style haircuts and loose Bermudas with short tops have hit the scene and are here to stay for some time. With splashes of pinks and reds, men are beginning to explore areas of the colour palette hitherto labelled as feminine.

Year in and year out, whether certain thing are in or out, the fact that remains is that the only thing constant in Delhi University campuses is change. Fresh faces with fresh fashion statements will keep thronging the corridors of the university with still fresh ideas and aspirations in the years to come.

Make a difference in the lives of hundreds of Delhi University students through Delhi University Helpline - a students' initiative for fellow students.

India's Fashion Trends Through The Ages

The 20th century has served fashion businesses well by making it more stable, practical, and pragmatic. From the fifties to the seventies, big names were not as prominent as they are now, especially in India. However, that does not mean that Indian fashion was dull. In fact, Indian fashion has been known to be graceful, stylish, and exciting. Garments were judged not from which celebrity wore what high-end fashion name, but by the style, fabric, and quality of the clothes themselves.

Before, it was a widely accepted practice to approach any tailor, have him make a garment fits perfectly on the customer in terms of style and finish, and pay him a few rupees. It was chic, not to mention fashionable, to buy garments this way.

The 60's saw kurtas and churidars in Indian fashion, as well as high coiffures. It was a colorful decade that celebrated cinema, music, and the arts. The seventies gave bell-bottoms and flower prints to the world, and India was one of the recipients. India exported outside and within the country, enhancing the trade of fabrics and clothing ideas. The eighties were witnesses to the increasing inclination of India to Western styles, embracing names like Calvin Klein and crafting salwar kameez with shoulder pads. It was also in the eighties when the first designer store in India opened in Mumbai.

As designer stores evolved in Mumbai, elegant fashion became synonymous with high prices. Customers perceived that the higher the price, the more elegant and stylish the garment is. The prices were made even higher by stiff competition among designers to get the best shows, events, and celebrities to market their name.

However, in the 90s, prices started to slowly decline, but fashion awareness remained high. Competition and consumer demands have merged style with affordability, thus giving India the best wardrobe at lower prices. Fashion did not fall with price; on the contrary, it soared.

Cristobal Balenciaga - A Legendary Designer

Cristobal Balenciaga was born on the 21st of January 1895 in the wonderful country of Spain, in a fishing town called Getaria. He is the founder of the fashion house called Balenciaga; he was also a very well known fashion designer who was highly respected for his work. Cristobal’s mother worked as a seamstress and he often spent time with his mother when she was working. When he was twelve years old, Cristobal started his work as the apprentice of a tailor. When he was a teenager he was sent to Madrid and that is where he was trained into becoming a tailor.

Even early in his designing career, Cristobal was successful, as he opened his first boutique in Spain in 1914. Then a little while after that there were two more branches that he opened in Madrid and in Barcelona. His designs were very popular and were even worn by the Spanish royal family. He was doing well until he was forced to close his stores by the Spanish Civil War. It was then that he decided to move to Paris and open his Paris couture house.

Cristobal Balenciaga had a hard time and many obstacles to overcome with his designing, but he did not let that stop him from doing what he wanted to do. When it got to the year 1951 he changed some of his designs, for the best. He changed the silhouette by taking away the waist and widening the shoulders. He then designed the tunic dress in 1955 and in 1957 it developed into the chemise dress.

In 1968 he closed his house due to the “prêt-a-porter” that the French were introducing. After that and all Cristobal has been through, he went on to teach fashion design classes to educate the people who would like to make a success of their lives like he did. He inspired many other designers and to this day, Cristobal Balenciaga is well known, even though he passed away in on March the 23rd, 1972. This man is an idol to many young and old fashion designers and he will always be remembered.

How to Design and Create Great Looking Clothing

Over the past three decades more and more people are wearing designer clothing and this means that the market for these types of designer products is growing. How do fashion designers get started? Do they have some sort of gift? The answer to that is that almost anyone can get started designing clothing but it does take time and practice. Think about it for a moment. The tie-die rage that swept through the 60s and 70s and made so many people so much money wasn't even started by a fashion designer, because it got started by pot smoking flower children who rejected capitalism.

Levi Strous was the originator of the designer jean and he was just trying to make some pants that crusty gold miners could work in. So, these are two glaring examples of people that made huge impacts on the way people dress and they weren't even trying, so imagine what you could do if your put your heart into it. One thing that you might consider doing is to begin to study fashion design and creation anthropologically. That is, to study the history of fashion and the history of fashion trends. This is because, to be on the leading end of the fashion industry you have to have the vision to see what is coming into style at least a year or two ahead of time.

In time everyone grows old and dies off and this rule also applies to fashion and clothing designers. This means that people are going to have to take their place when they leave. This also means that right now people your age and just like you are dreaming of becoming clothing and fashion accessory designers and some are going to realize their dream. Will you be one of them? The fact is that it is entirely up to you, because if you put your heart into it, no one can stop you from achieving your dream.

Quiz- Has Fashion Imprisoned Us?

Fashion is all encompassing. Do you make fashion, or fashion makes you? How much are you affected by the latest trends? Let us look at this issue impersonally. Please view some old photographs dating about hundred years old. You will see men and women wearing different types of clothes then now. Today, the trend is different.

The word trend, latest and in fashion take away our originality. We have stopped thinking about what kind of clothes we want to wear, so that we look good and feel comfortable. Instead we find out what the celebrities are wearing. We look at the latest collections of fashion designers. We make our choice from these. We don't make our own fashion.

This does not apply to our thinking, our motions and our value systems. In these, we have our own standards. But when it comes to fashion, we fall in queue. Why? The designers are persuading us that if we don't follow the latest fashion, we are backward and not up to date. Friends may laugh at us. Many of us display the latest acquisitions of designer clothes that we but at exorbitant prices. We don't question the prices of top designers. Why?

It has to do with some amount of brainwash all of us have undergone by the marketing companies. If everyone becomes independent and makes his/her own fashion, how will they survive? Many of us buy the latest clothing, wear it once or twice and then never wear it again, because it has gone out of fashion. We spend money again and buy the latest. Fashion has affected us to such an extent that we don't question about these issues. We simply follow the herd.

Beginning A Career With Fashion School

For fashion enthusiasts a career working in this exciting environment can seem like the best of all worlds – earning a living while having the opportunity to be creative in an industry for which you have a passion. A career in fashion can be a glamorous and stimulating occupation; but in order to be successful you must have the ability and the education behind you. Fashion school can bring you one step closer to a career in the fashion industry.

Those interested in a career in fashion must initially possess an innate ability to create beautiful clothing designs and effectively communicate and manufacturer those designs. A career such as this requires more than just a love of clothing – although that is obviously an important element to the job. If these are abilities that you possess, fashion school is the next natural step in finding your place in the fashion world.

Fashion school will give you the fundamentals necessary to begin your exploration of the fashion industry. Classroom education will provide you with the basics of design including the ability to transfer what is in your head to paper or computer. Further, a fashion school will provide an education on the choosing and handling of textiles of all varieties and the sewing – both by hand and machine – and manufacturing of your design.

Fashion school lays the groundwork for a career in the fashion industry and opens doors that would normally not be available to someone starting out in the business. For instance, a reputable fashion school can assist you in getting an internship or apprenticeship with a working design house. This can be the most important step that you take in your career – allowing you to get hands-on experience and network with important people in the industry; also important is the opportunity this allows you to build your own portfolio and establish a name for yourself in the industry. An initial work experience such as an apprenticeship through your fashion school could very well be the start of your own career.

Beginning a career in the fashion industry can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Fashion school – along with the hands-on work experiences they offer – can allow you to hone your abilities and carve out your place in this spectacular industry.

Why is Old School Fashion Repeating Itself?

Fashion has certainly come a long way from the top hats and petticoats era of the past. Clothes today have become a great combination of aesthetics and function. One might think that because of the progress that we have maid in the area of clothing, we would not look back at our past. Reality, as always, has a way of denying what we all think. Today, we all see a resurgence of popular fashion styles from the past. It seems that old school fashion is coming back.

First of all, what is old school fashion? Well, it constitutes of fashion coming from 1970s-1980s. Old school fashion is being brought back by fashion conscious young adults and teenagers today. Old school fashion is not only determined by the clothes. Old school fashion is evident in accessories, hairstyles and even in the attitude of the youth today. The question, however, is why? Why is old school fashion coming back?

There are a variety of reasons why people are bringing back old school fashion. First of all, this fascination with the past has started with television. Do you realize that the people who are bringing back old school fashion are the ones who grew up watching reruns of such shows as Happy Days? We are also the same generation who enjoy watching TV shows based on the past such as That 70’s Show.

Come to think of it, we have been exposed so much to old school fashion in other media. Think of the movies: we are the ones who enjoyed watching movies of old shows like Starsky and Hutch, Charlie’s Angels and other movies which have been resurrected from the old death of camp TV to the new life of the cinema.

Well, the media certainly brought about the old school fashion revival. It was the spark that created the fire. The question, however, is what fuels the flames? The truth is, people like old school fashion. It looks good and helps them reconnect with a past which was not as complicated as the world today. The reason why old school fashion is constantly gaining popularity is the fact that once it was reintroduced into society, people found that they actually liked it.

Old school fashion is also very popular because of the fact that there’s just something about it that is so sexy. Old school fashion was designed to show of the beauty of the human body. Fitted shirts and pants, cool patterns and designs, these are the trademarks of a past which young people have not experienced.

Another reason why people think that old school fashion is so cool is the fact that, combined with today’s technology of comfortable fabrics, old school designs can be pretty showy and yet casual at the same time.

So why is old school fashion coming back? Well, some people would see it as a metaphor for us trying to reclaim a past that never really belonged to us. It can also be a metaphor for trying to extract the best things out of the past. You see, when old school fashion was brought into this century, we never really brought all of the bad memories with it. Old school fashion could either be a great example of recapturing the beautiful past or it could be a bad metaphor for selective amnesia. You decide.

Technology Outsourcing to Chindia?

If you've never heard the term Chindia before, it refers to China-India. In the case of outsourcing, they are currently a powerhouse, leading the world in technology-based outsourcing. But, what makes China and India such powerful players in the technology outsourcing market? In this article, I will attempt to explain why they're currently at the top of the technology field, and why they are making such an impact in the realm of technology outsourcing.

China and India are the two most populous nations in the world. Together, they make up close to 40% of the earth's total population with a combined total of about 2.4 billion people. When you add the fact that India and China are producing some of the best trained computer science, and electrical engineering graduates, and they can be hired for a lot less than their Western counterparts, you have a technology outsourcing bonanza.

China and India are able to offer their technology outsourcing services at a lower cost to companies in America, Europe, Australia and Asia. But low cost does not imply low quality. On the contrary, both China and India are becoming innovators in both software and hardware development.

In the past, the main focus of Chindia's outsourcing was low cost manufacturing, and low-cost services. But with China and India taking on leading roles as technology innovators, and with hundreds of thousands of highly educated, highly trained computer scientists and engineers at their disposal, the impact that they are having on the technology outsourcing field can no longer be ignored.

Technology outsourcing to China and India will continue to grow in the coming years. The floodgates have been opened and won't close any time soon. As long as China and India continue to provide quality, low cost, technology outsourcing services, companies in America, and other Western countries, will continue to see the benefits of outsourcing their IT to Chindia.

Fashion Sense - Either You Have It Or You Don't

If one could become fashionable simply by learning what is in fashion and following the guidelines given by the fashion gurus, then everyone would become a fashion icon. But as things stand some people are in fashion whereas others are not. What differentiates these two groups is fashion sense.

If fashion makers had their way the human race would be a flock of sheep. Wear pastels this autumn and leather this winter. Get rid of plunging necklines but stay tuned on rising midriffs. Everyone would be roaming around looking like peas from a pod. Thank god for the smart people, the people with fashion sense, who know how to retain their individuality while remaining within the current fashion trends. And it is not really difficult. Fashion diktats are numerous. One should have the knack of mix-and-matching to get the correct blend. If pastels are in by all means wear pastels but use accessories to differentiate yourself from the crowd.

Every individual is different and the buying population is particularly different from the models that display the various aspects of fashion, whether on the ramp or from billboards. Garments that look good on the flat skinny models would rarely look good on people who have curves in the right or wrong places. Another aspect of fashion sense is to tailor the fashion trends to ones individual characteristics. How to choose garments of the right colours and materials no doubt, but those that distract from one's thinness or bulkiness, ones shortness or tallness. The policy applies to homes as well Fashion sense can make small rooms look larger and can hide columns and beams that protrude from the walls.

Fashion sense is more than mere knowledge. It is an attitude that enables one to carry ones decisions with confidence and flair. If you have fashion sense then use it, if not then head for the nearest salon.

Socially Conscious Fashion Designs With Meaning - Is There Room On The All Over Pattern Design?

There is a simple formula to creating a new urban fashion t-shirt collection. Take one white t-shirt, mix with one logo, add clashing colors and print all over to taste. Repeat to order. Does it work? Yes. Does it satisfy? Debatable.

There was once a time when fashion had a voice and when your skin cried out for expression, it was met with the soothing comfort of bold, sometimes rebellious, occasionally irreverent - fashion with purpose, meaning and poise. A time when your fashion wardrobe was equipped with statements ready made on demand. More importantly, statements no one else was making. I bet you can remember such a time.

When did we all become fashion clones? When did it become taboo to steer away from the herd, get off the bandwagon, stick out of the crowd, stick it to the man, be different, be unique, be true, be real or quite simply - just stand out and make a statement? Whatever happened to meaning in creative fashion design?

But is there room for meaning in fashion? Is there a role for fashion to play in allowing people to connect with issues, connect with themselves, show awareness and sow the seeds for change? I believe there is and there is a quiet movement in consumer awareness that offers encouragement for such a stance.

Mainstream fashion labels are starting to make socially conscious fashion lines with benefit t-shirt collections around the globe. Fashion philanthropy is making a comeback. The market niche that is the socially conscious consumer is a very powerful one. Now whether it's for the fad or maybe for the finance, the big players are starting to show recognition of the power of socially conscious fashion. For my part, I hope it's for the fashion.

Customer Loyalty in the Technology Industry

For technology companies, service after the sale has emerged on equal footing with innovation as a competitive advantage.

As technology-related products and services touch nearly every area of our lives and our businesses, technology has become integrated in how we communicate, learn, work, and entertain ourselves. Our appetite for technology products is growing, even in today’s economic climate.

Traditionally, technology companies competed for this business by delivering more innovative, reliable products and services at lower prices. In the audio book, “Sound Advice on Customer Loyalty,” author Steve Walker says customer expectations are changing.

“Contracting markets and increasing commoditization of technology products have combined to give the customer the upper hand,” says Walker. “Technology companies must become more responsive to the ever changing needs of their customers.”

According to recent customer studies, this translates into a demand for improved customer support.

“Customers are expecting better technical and non-technical customer service,” says Walker. “Our research shows that service after the sale has emerged on at least equal footing with innovation as a competitive advantage for technology companies.”

“While the potential for technology companies is great, the need to manage customer loyalty in such a dynamic market is even greater,” says Walker. “For technology companies, a focus on customers will only add more value to the innovative products and services they are expected to deliver.”

Steve Walker offers advice on managing customer loyalty each week in the free audio newsletter from What’s Working in Biz, http://www.whatsworking.biz/full_story.asp?ArtID=92
